Rieveley Ceramics offers conservation expertise for ceramic tiling and mosaics. We have experience in conservation of floor and wall tiles along with mosaic. We have carried many projects on numerous buildings interiors and exteriors, helping to preserve their rich heritage of listed buildings and in ordinary domestic dwellings. In reality, the majority of all we do involves some aspect of conservation.
Often the places undergoing conservation are in constant use, and we ensure minimum disruption whilst the work takes place, we understand the needs of the client and work out practical solutions to avoid disruption. Tiling on floors and walls usually are still in use on a daily basis performing the functions for which they were intended, they are by nature hard wearing, none the less in some cases the many years of use takes its toll and damage whether intentional or not creates problems along with general wear and tear. Environmental conditions are important factors in the preservation of ceramics, which can lead to damage and degradation of tiles and mosaics and also lead to failure of the substrate to which they are attached. We remedy the failures and provide methods and procedures to conserve and preserve into the future. Mike Rieveley has achieved full accreditation in conservation and restoration, ACR, from the UK Institute of Conservation and Alex Haycock is on the ICON ACR Pathway.
